Rochester Chapter 23 Veterans For Peace and Genesee Valley Citizens for Peace (GVCP) gathered from 4:00-5:00 pm on Monday, January 23rd at the Federal Building on State Street in Rochester, NY for a rally to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of the TPNW. We had signs, banners, peace flags, speeches, and chants. Letters were signed and delivered to Senators Schumer and Gillibrand’s offices in the building on behalf of GVCP and Veterans For Peace. An additional 30 letters were signed by attendees and subsequently delivered to the Senators, asking them to support the Treaty and sign the ICAN Legislator’s Pledge. A professional photographer was on hand for photos. The event was spotlighted in the Livingston County News, and an interview with GVCP member Holly Adams aired on WXXI, explaining why we were rallying for the TPNW. The rally attracted 25 cold hardy individuals. Flyers and information were distributed to attendees and passersby. We had more than a few honks in support from passing cars. Rochester City Council members and the entire Monroe County Legislature were all invited to the rally.
