In New York City, during the week of January 16, volunteer members of Peace Action NYS, Manhattan Project for a Nuclear-Free World, and many other organizations celebrated the anniversary of the TPNW’s entry into force by delivering roses and thank-you certificates to the Permanent Missions to the United Nations of those states parties that ratified the Treaty after January 20, 2022. New states parties to the TPNW in 2023 include Cabo Verde, the Republic of the Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, the Dominican Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Grenada, Guatemala, Malawi, and Timor-Leste. (Volunteers complied with the CDC’s and New York State’s COVID guidelines.)
